Why are the iexplore.exe processes not terminated after closing all instances
of the browser?

At one point over a dozen iexplore.exe process appeared in the task manager;
even though all IE windows were closed. Each process was consuming 20-30 MB
memory. The processes had to be terminated manually.

I am getting this also. A new occurance of the iexplorer process starts when
you open another IE 7 browser or open the browser. Upon closure, everyone so
far is correct that the browser does not end the process without having to
open the task manager and forcing an end to the process. This is what
happens during beta testing sometimes and Microsoft, I am sure, will fix this
before the final IE browser comes out.

Just my note I am having the same problem.. iexlopore.exe will not close,
meaning that every new window or use of IE7 process runs untill task ended
manually.

I am experiencing this too from time to time. If I try to launch IE from a
website shortcut it won't load until I kill these "hung" iexplore.exe
processes in the task manager.

I am also running raid 0. I'm not sure how this would cause the problem though.
