Windows Live Hotmail Gadget not working on My.Live.com

This seems to be a recurring issue - but I've narrowed it down to (of
all things) Microsoft's own IE7. It appears that while logged into
live.com, IE7 displays "The Windows Live Hotmail service is currently
unavailable. Please try again." but only in IE7. Visit my.live.com
with Firefox (on the same computer) and log in and, presto! The
Hotmail service *is* actually available!

Can anyone confirm this behavior and/or come up with a reason why this
has suddenly started happening? I know my.live.com has gone through
some site changes recently so, maybe something got broken? I can also
see the Hotmail gadget using my Mac's Firefox so I know it's not a
home network/firewall issue.

I've already flushed IE's cookies and history so that's not it. Any
ideas?

Hi,
Try...
1. Clear the Temporary Internet Files
2. Clear the History and delete all cookies again
3. Reset (power down) modem, router, etc.
4. Does the problem occur if add-ons are disabled (IE> Tools> Manage
add-ons?)
If the problem goes away, you have an incompatible browser add-on.
See: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/troubleshoot.asp
for troubleshooting information.

Hope this helps,

Don, your suggestions only momentarily brought back the Windows Live Hotmail
gadget on my.live.com. It's gone again now. I can move to another computer
(while at my job) and fire up IE7 and successfully log into my.live.com and
see the working gadget so I know it's not a real service outage, as the error
proclaims. Even on the same computer (with the error in IE7), I can
successfully fire up Firefox and log in to see the working gadget.

Clearly, something in IE7 is preventing this gadget from working within
my.live.com. Funny thing is, it works just fine in IE7 on my msn.com home
page - providing I'm logged in and have enabled the Hotmail checkbox near the
bottom of that page.
