Proxy exceptions in Windows 7 Internet Explorer

In Windows XP, IE's proxy settings included a list of URL patterns
that would bypass the proxy. In Windows 7 this functionality seems
to have been removed, there is only a checkbox to ignore the proxy
for local addresses.

Is there some way in Windows 7 to have a proxy exception list like
there was in XP? Maybe enter directly into the registry? Thanks for
any help with this...

Not in the "Home Premium" version as far as I know. (Unfortunately a lot
of small businesses just go out and buy the cheapest POS computer they
can find at a big-box store, invariably running Win7 Home.)

However, some more web searching turned up the actual registry entry
required:

Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
Name: ProxyOverride
Data Type: Reg_SZ
Value: *.microsoft.com;*.myitforum.com

Have not tried it yet, but looks promising...
