restart my computer and then go back to the site and it will finally open up.

Hi,
Probably won't help, but clear the Temporary Internet Files (Internet
Options> General> Browsing History> Delete> (next screen) etc.

This sounds like the work of a pop-up blocker. Are you running any of these
or something similar? A toolbar from google, yahoo, earthlink, aol? How
about Ad-aware Pro/Adwatch? Take a close look at your third-party programs.

Hope this helps,
Don

Thanks for your help. I have tried and it still does not work. I do not have
any popupblocker or any other programs like that running. And it only happens
randomly.. sometimes it will open the page, sometimes it won't..

Be more specific about your symptoms. What are you trying to do?
What do you see? "The page will just flash" is too vague.
Are you trying to open links in new windows? Then you see a window
frame appear and disappear?

Also, in other Me too! posts you imply you have a problem exclusively
with playing video clips or hotmail. In case all your symptoms could be
related you should mention them *all* at the same time.

I have to restart my computer and then go back to the site
and it will finally open up.
Instead of doing that you could try starting another IE task.
And to test the non-video clip problem cases you could then put
the new IE task in No Add-ons mode by Run... (e.g. press Win-R and enter)

iexplore.exe -nohome -extoff

Hint: click on the Stop button to get out of the NoHome state or
press Ctrl-t to open a new tab.

I suspect you have a popup blocker that you aren't aware of.

Unfortunately you can't test that case in No Add-ons mode either
but you could use the Manage Add-ons tool to disable as many
unrelated and non-essential add-ons as possible in case doing that
can change your symptoms. To start a new IE task all I have to do
is use my Start menu and click on the IE icon in it. YMMV.
Otherwise you may need to Run...

iexplore.exe -nohome -new

I'm suggesting you use -nohome because I don't know what
your Home page is. If it is involved it could be part of your symptoms too.

Okay, I will be more specific. Windows Vista and IE7
These are the things I am experiencing:
1. Links will not open
2. video clips won't play
3. IE will just close by itself

In detail-
1. I will be on a webpage adn there will be a link on it. I click on that
link which is supposed to take me to a whoel new page(which will open on a
new IE page, i won't be redirected on the same page) but instead of opening,
the original webpage will jstu flash- as in the toolbar on the top will just
flash and then go back to normal- but nothing opens. I try opening a new IE
task and it does the same thing. I have tried running in no add-ons mode..
doesn't help. the only thing that helps is whe i restart... i don't have any
popup blcokers on and have disabled all unnecessary add-ons.
i have tried your suggestions and that does not help. my home page is
www.google.com but i tried waht you have said and it did not help
2.video clips don't play. I have flash and divx player both enabled and i go
to the website ie www.sidereel.com
http://www.sidereel.com/The_West_Wing/_watchlinkviewer/23
http://www.sidereel.com/The_West_Wing/_watchlinkviewer/90
i have both the divx player and generic flash player and neither of these
links work..
i just recently received a new message saying "divx player could not
download the file, please check permissions in the download folder"- what
does this mean?
i have also started experiencing problems with windows media player where
the sound is there but there is no picture..

3. randomly, i will have IE open with a couple or a few tabs open(whatever i
happened to be doing) and it will jsut close by itself. i can't tell you much
else because i don't know what brings it on..

Hi,
Some steps to try...
Set a homepage other than Google (or a blank homepage) and uninstall the
Google toolbar. If installed, uninstall the Yahoo toolbar. You can reinstall
them if they aren't the troublemakers.

With the warnings that a reset will delete Autocomplete data (such as
passwords) and you will have to re-enable browser add-ons, try the Reset IE
Settings button in Internet Options> Advanced.

Set PDF files to open in Adobe Reader. Adobe Reader> Edit> Preferences>
Internet> uncheck Display PDF in browser.

Turn on the Windows Firewall from Control Panel> Windows Firewall and
disable your third-party firewall or security suite. See if that program is
causing the problems.

Hi,
Can't help with DivX. You might search Support or Community at
http://www.divx.com/

For Flash on Vista try these steps:
Internet Options> Advanced
"Allow active content to run in files on My Computer"
Try this unchecked (default) and checked.

A possible solution from the Adobe support forums
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=184&threadid=1243464#4480396

[From an archived post by bellington]
Navigate to:
C:\windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil9b.exe
Run the .exe and this will run an updater. After running it my Flash
problems were gone. This seems to fix most Flash problems Vista users are
getting.

See this Adobe article:
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=fb1634cb

Try uninstalling / reinstalling Flash Player. Use the uninstaller at
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157
Flash player download:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

Check to see if Internet Explorer or a third-party program, toolbar or other
browser add-on is blocking scripts, scripting, ActiveX, active content, etc.

I have the same problem and have since I first installed IE7.
The way I get around this is:
Holding down the Control Key while clicking the link opens the page in
a new tab.
Holding down the Shift key will make the page open in a new window.

Otherwise I have noticed that problem occurs most when I am clicking
on several links from the same page. It will open the first few, then,
it just flashes. It seemes like it is trying to open another window
and immediately closing it. I have tried turning off everything that
might affect a page opening (pop-up blockers etc.) but it still does
the same thing.

Opera does not have this problem. I only use IE for those sites that
are incompatible with Opera anymore.
