I have set blank page as home page. Each time I launch IE it shows tab
"connecting..." for a very long time before the blank page loads. In
addition, it also takes forever each time I tries to open a new tab. Is this
normal, or do I have some wrong setting?

Hello,

* will you see the same behavior when using any other home page?
* will this persist in no add-ons mode? Press Windows-key +
R ->iexplore -extoff -> Enter . If the errors don't persist, start Internet
Explorer normally again and go to Tools -> Manage add-ons -> Enable or
disable add-ons and disable one add-on after the other, until you find which
add-on is causing the issue.

Greetings,
P. Di Stolfo

Try this:

When a new tab page is opened, the default page opens up saying "You have
opened a new tab... etc. etc..."

There's a checkbox at the bottom of the page's text that's labelled "Don't
show this page again." Check the box, and click the Close button for the new
tab - don't click the red X in the upper corner of the tab page, use the
"Close" button on the page.

From then on, the new tabs will not attempt to load that default page
anymore, and they will simply appear blank immediately once they are opened.

Hope this helps!

I had the same problem but IE7 wanted to close as well as the blank page.

1.
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

2. manually install or reinstall the applicable update to your operating
system even if you used Microsoft Update recently and installed updates,
particularly the security update...from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms07-042.mspx

These are 2 places I visited and things I did before IE7 returned to normal
and very pleasingly, ever faster than before fast speed.
If you could do everyone a favor and please install one then report back
then install the other and report back so people can know which is the
solution. I think your blank page is a small part of the mshtml.dll error
message I got after a week or so of the blank page showing in Windows XP Home
Edition SP2.

Hi,
Did you try P. Di Stolfo's suggestion to run IE without add-ons?

Bingo..........The only new add on that I installed recently was Windows Live
stuff. When I disabled them, things are back to normal and working much
better.

I have read Adobe Flash Player has been the problem. One person said he
uninstalled then reinstalled it.
