Hi

I've had this problem for a while, when I clcik a file for download in IE
the status bar says downloading from site and then Done but nothing happens.

Else a new window opens with the download URL in the address bar but there
is a little image in the pane (a small rectangle with a red quare, a blue
triangle and circle in it) and no download is performed.

Any help will be appreciated as I have searched widely without finding a
soultion.

Thank you

The file might get downloaded and opened instead. If you wait long enough it
might get opened in the associated program. Check in file-types if the
"confirm after download" is unchecked (it shouldn't).

The latter means that there's some add-in taking over that wants to display
the file, but can't. Typical if you uninstalled such an add-in, but it didn't
cleanly uninstall from IE.

Download manager installed? Or was one installed? What zip program is
installed? Also, try to make a correlation between file type/suffix and the
behavior you get.
And use "Save Target as" from the Kontextmenu. f.i. right-click a normal html
link and try to save it via "Save Target as", does that work? Then try it with
your desired download targets.
