Shortly after installing IE7 beta, some of the autologins to sites such as
the Washington Post ceased to work. I spent part of one morning logging into
many of the sites, which seemed to resolve the problem. I was later looking
for something in my temporary internet files, local settings, ad noticed I
didn't have any such folder. My setting is to use "HP Administrator" for
temp files. Further research shows the temporary internet files to now be
located under the "Administrator" account. I verfified the Internet Explorer
settting is set to "HP Administrator."

Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi,
In Folder Options> View, is "Hide protected operating system files"
unchecked? Does that allow you to see Temporary Internet Files under Local
Settings?

Yes, hidden protected operating system files are viewable. I'm fairly sure
that the files are usually under the "HP Administrator", as that is the only
Administrator logon that I use. Just can't totally prove that anymore...

Big culprit of moving the temporary internet folder is Opera. I tried that
browser and it kept moving my temporary internet folders until I removed it.

Being basically lazy, I haven't ever set up any groups, and only use the "HP
Administrator" account. All of my TIFs are located under the "Administrator"
account, and I just noticed many more are in the "Default" user account. Not
sure what you mean about "Move Folder" comment.

Changing direction, for a moment, you *really* should setup a user account
for yourself and stop using the HP Administrator account. You don't want
that account to get corrupted. This may solve the autologin problem.

Create a duplicate user profile with a different name

May be necessary to modify user accounts:

If you're still running IE7 Beta, I would uninstall it before making any
changes to user accounts.

The login problem might be a cookies issue. Check Internet Options> Privacy
settings to make sure that settings aren't too restrictive.

Please post back if this doesn't resolve the login problem.

Well, you got me motivated to set up some user accounts. I set up a main
account for me, and one for my daughter, newly back in our household. Before
doing so, I did some much needed organizing of my files, and backed up
everything, just in case. Sometime after uninstalling IE7 Beta, the
mysterious additional "Administrator" TIFs disappeared. After setting up my
new account, tweaking of my preferences, restoring my Outlook Express mail
files, etc, I tried logging into most of the news sites, etc. that I was
automatically signing into in the past. Some worked, some didn't. I then
signed out and created the appropriate cookies. Along the way, I realized
how much I liked using IE7 beta. Thanks for all of the links to get this
done, and the minor prodding to get me started in doing something I should
have done when I first bought this computer (and upgraded from an old, slow
Windows 98SE system.
